Duplicator Plugin = My new best friend
If you’re any kind of website developer you’ve probably heard of the Duplicator Plugin.
Yes, you do have to be a bit technologically savvy to use it, and although they do have documentation, if you don’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to databases etc., beware of using this plugin.
Basically what it does is creates a clone of a website and moves it to wherever it needs to be. That’s the sum of it.
The way it does this is by creating a package of your existing site as well as an installer file, you upload the installer file and the package to the server where you want the site to be, and you run the installer file. Duplicator takes care of all the other fiddly stuff like making sure your links and paths will all be updated and working properly on the new site. Sweet! What a time saver!
So, if you need to create a test site from an existing website, Duplicator is for you. If you’re creating a new site revamp, or just a new site period, you can work on your creation wherever you want and when it’s ready to be implemented you can use Duplicator to stick it where it needs to be. I love it! I’ve used it a bunch of times already and it’s so simple, I’d recommend it to anyone working with WordPress sites.
